How to Reupholster Bar Stools

Upholstered bar stools are great. They look nice and are really comfortable, but they do not last forever. After using them for awhile, bar stools show a lot of wear and tear. If the upholstery on a barstool has gotten torn or damaged, or even if you just want to change the color or type of fabric, then follow these steps to replace it easily.
First: Remove the existing fabric
The fabric is usually stapled to the bottom of the bar stool, so the first step is to turn your bar stool upside down. Using the end flat end of a hammer or a flat-head screwdriver remove the staples holding the fabric in place.
Second: Cut out new fabric for replacement
Take your new fabric and cut out the appropriate shape needed to fit your particular bar stool. To make things easier, you can use the fabric you just removed and use it as a template to trace out the outline of your new fabric.
Third: Attach the new fabric to the stool
Lay the fabric down with the outside facing the ground. Next align your bar stool in the center of the fabric. Begin pulling the fabric over the edge of your stool and stapling it into place. Work your way around and remember to watch for the corners, assuming your stool is not round, as you can expect extra fabric to staple down. To make the corners easier you can pull the fabric together and fold it over to one side and then staple.
